- The name
- Flodhis is an acronym for "Flora Didáctica
Hispalense" (Didactic Flora of Seville, Spain).
- What is it?
- A tutorial of wild flowering plants
of West Andalousia (Seville
province of
and nearby counties in the bordering ones: Cadiz, Cordoba,
Huelva and part of Malaga).
- What is it for:
- To learn how to identify wild flowering
plants
using most common plants as samples.
- To learn how to
observe the morphological
characters of these plants.
|
|
- What's new in
"Flodhis"?
- The display of taxonomic information
using
crosstabs instead of the traditional dichotomous keys.
- The illustration of the characters with schematic drawings.
- The exclusive use of species that are
more available by Botany students
and fans. This leads to an easier and faster identification.
- The use of the "html" format and the modular design allow:
- The expansion ofthe content.
- The addition and
link of new documents
that adapt the work to the experience and
needs of
the user.
|
|
- Limitations:
- "Flodhis" is not a complete
flora, as it only includes the most common taxa:
approximately 39% of the species, 65% of the genera and 83% of the
known families
in the region.
- To identify correctly a plant you need to
consult the botanic literature.
- Origin:
- Born in 1997 as a teaching innovation
project
at the University of Seville (Spain).
- Since then, new versions have been
published,
expanding the content and including new photographs provided by the project partners.
