Postdoctoral Position in Experimental Nuclear Physics/Nuclear Chemistry Washington University in St. Louis

The Nuclear Structure group in the Chemistry Department at Washington University in St. Louis (Sarantites Group) has an immediate opening for a Postdoc position. The group maintains a diverse program in particle-gamma spectroscopy with low-energy heavy ions at national and university accelerator facilities. The successful candidate is expected to play an active role in new and ongoing projects using the group’s particle detectors coupled to the Gammasphere or Gretina detector arrays. The person will be working with both Drs. Sarantites and Reviol.

The requirements are: recent PhD in Nuclear Physics/Nuclear Chemistry; experience in low-energy Nuclear Structure studies as demonstrated by a strong publication record; good knowledge of state-of-the-art nuclear detectors and techniques; familiarity with data-analysis tools especially ROOT; C/C++ programming skills.

The appointment will be for two years with the option of a one-year extension contingent on continued funding.
