NUCLEAR PHYSICS RESEARCH GROUP

Lecturer in Physics

£35,550 - £42,418 Paisley Campus

The School of Computing, Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of the West of Scotland is inviting applications for the position of Lecturer in Physics. The position is available for a fixed term of two years in the first instance. The main duties of the role are teaching and research. Research will be conducted as part of the UWS Nuclear Physics Research Group.

The UWS Nuclear Physics Research Group has internationally recognized research programmes studying the structure and properties of exotic nuclei. Our research is primarily conducted at large overseas facilities such as JYFL (Finland), Legnaro National Laboratory (Italy) and ISOLDE (CERN). We were one of the founding members of the Scottish Universities Physics Alliance, SUPA, which is the pioneering research pooling initiative in physics in Scotland.

The role will require effective contributions to research, to teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and to academic administration. A successful track record of research in experimental nuclear physics and a good publication record are essential. The post holder will contribute to nuclear-physics research within the UWS group and will develop and lead new programmes of research. Research will be carried out at international nuclear-physics facilities so a willingness to travel is essential. The role will be based on the Paisley Campus of the University of the West of Scotland
