Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) will host the 3rd Conference on "Microscopic Approaches to Nuclear Structure and Reactions" in honor of the late Daniel Gogny at the Livermore Valley Open Campus on November 11-15, 2019.
The first two conferences were organized in Bruyères-le-Châtel (France) in
2015 and Universidad autonoma de Madrid (Spain) in 2017.
The scientific program will reflect Daniel Gogny's interests in nuclear physics and will thus focus on
- Nuclear structure of heavy nuclei
- Nuclear reactions
- Fission and large-amplitude collective motion
- Energy density functional theory
Sessions will consist of presentations from invited speakers and select contributions from submitted abstracts.
The Livermore Valley Open Campus is located just outside LLNL in Livermore, California. Livermore is a small city on the eastern edge of the San Francisco Bay Area, which is served by three major airports: San Francisco International (SFO), San Jose International (SJC) and Oakland International (OKC). Popular touristic attractions in the greater Bay Area include the cities of San Francisco and Berkeley, the Napa and Sonoma wine countries, Silicon Valley, and the Pacific Coast. Yosemite National Park and Sequoia National Parks are a few hours drive away. The weather in mid-november is usually pleasant with mild temperatures.
The projected timeline for announcement distributions, abstract submission, and registration is:
- January 25, 2019: First announcement
- April 30, 2019: Second announcement (website, practical information and registration opens)
